How to Choose the Perfect Tiles for Your Kitchen

A practical guide from the Palazzo Marbles showroom team to help you compare materials, finishes, and care before you commit.

Start with the way the kitchen will be used

A family kitchen, a show kitchen, and a compact apartment kitchen all ask different things from stone. Before selecting a slab, decide how often the surface will be used for cooking, entertaining, serving, and cleaning.

For high-use kitchens, the Palazzo team usually begins with finish, density, edge treatment, and stain behaviour before moving into colour. This keeps the selection beautiful and realistic.

  • Choose polished finishes for light reflection and a crisp luxury look.
  • Choose honed finishes for a softer, quieter surface with less glare.
  • Use darker, movement-rich stones where everyday marks need to feel less visible.

Read the room before reading the slab

Natural stone changes dramatically with light. A white marble may feel bright in a sunlit room and cooler in an apartment with limited daylight. Warm beige or gold-veined materials can soften strong LED lighting and make the kitchen feel more inviting.

Bring cabinet samples, tile references, and metal finish references when visiting the showroom. Seeing them beside the slab prevents surprises and makes the final palette feel deliberate.

Balance beauty with maintenance

Marble rewards care. It offers depth, softness, and natural variation that engineered materials cannot fully copy, but it should be selected with clear expectations around sealing, cleaning, and everyday use.

If the project needs a marble look with tighter maintenance, quartz or quartzite may be worth comparing. Palazzo Marbles carries both, so clients can judge the trade-off in person.
